Eye Candy Friday

Yes, this is post number 3 today!!!!

In UFO news, I managed to finish one of my UFOs last night. It was my Sockapoolza socks. They are done and will go out int he mail next week. I want to sew something and send it along with the socks. And I was good and did not start anything new. Yet. I am going to try and finish one more sock this weekend before starting a new sock.

I also pulled everything together for trying to finish my sweater. I hope I have more yarn somewhere. I can only find 3 skeins of it. I will be spending this weekend cleaning up the living room and the studio. Everything for this sweater will be put together in a basket so it is together. And it will sit next to the couch so I will try and remember to work on it every night even if only for 5 or 10 minutes.

It also rained again last night. My rain gauge showed a total of just under 2-1/2 inches for 24 hours but the rain gauge for the town had just above 1-1/2 inches. Maybe it rained harder at my end of town?

I am hoping to get my living room cleaned up this weekend. Yes, there is yarn all over the living room and books. And the studio needs to be cleaned so I can finish up a few projects that need to be sewn. My sewing machine is covered right now. I just found out my SIL likes my quilts although she will never say anything like that to my face. Maybe the youngest nephew will finally get a quilt. It will have to be a quilt for Christmas. And I will try and photograph some of my quilts this weekend as well.

Sockapoolza Socks

I received my socks for Sockapoolza 4 earlier this week. My socks were made for me by Jeri of alittlemoreknit. The socks she knit me are the ‘Vog On pattern from the Spring 2007 Knitty.

After reading her blog, I have discovered that Jeri dyed the yarn for these socks herself!!! I love the color of the yarn. It is nice and tangerine to me. The socks are a perfect fit and I didn’t even dare let my niece see them because she would try and claim them. THe yarn is from Finland and called Revontuli. (I can’t find any links for this yarn.)

She also sent me a few other items in the package. There is a wonderful bag with an eggplant on the front. I am thinking that Jeri made it but she didn’t say in her note. She did however make me some knit wash clothes. The chartreuse one is the backside of a bunny with his little tail showing. And the green one is a flower basket. There is also a pair of britches for my dishes. They are actually two dish cloths cleverly held together with a ribbon. I will try and keep the britches together for awhile.

She also sent me a skien of Churro yarn. Churro sheep are raised by the Navajoes and their wool is used for weaving blankets and rugs. The Churro sheep are considered a Rare Breed. Click on the first link for a photo and history of this unique breed.. Personally, I think they are a beautiful breed. I love their horns.

And Jeri is also from the South West like my partner Carrie from the Hogwarts Swap. Jeri though is from Gallup, New Mexico. Gallup is considered to be in the heart of Native American lands. And from the photos, it looks gorgeous and this region has always been on my list of places to visit.

Hogwarts Socks

I received an owl post about a week now but I haven’t blogged about it yet. Yes, bad blogger!!!! And to honest, it has been too hot to even think of putting socks on my feet. But I have put on the socks and taken pictures finally. And yes, I stayed in the a/c to take the pictures.

My socks were knit by Susan Bones aka Carrie at Strickerin. Carrie lives in the Great Southwest and sent me some goodies from her area. First up though we the socks. I was sorted by the Sorting Hat into Gryffindor. Be quiet P!!! So she knit me socks in the house colors. And she said that this was the first time that she had tried stripes. I can’t tell.

She also send me Alison’s wonderful book Charmed Knits which I did not have. There was plenty of prickly pear goodies.. There was a prickly pear lollipop. And some prickly pear marmalade, taffy and honey.

She also sent me two skeins of Panda Cotton in the Faded Jeans color way. And the yarn will make me a pair of socks soon. And she also sent me a needle to use for socks.

Thank you Carrie!!!
