Wash Day

Last night was wash day for my socks. I had several pairs that needed to be washed. So I set about washing the socks before I made dinner. There was a grand total of 6 pairs of socks that needed to be washed. I still had 3 pairs of socks in the sock drawer so I am wearing a pair of hand knit socks today. I need to hurry up and finish some of the ones that have been on the needles awhile. Winter is not even here and my feet are cold.

I also managed to finish the hat that I was working on for myself. Quite awhile ago, I traded several skeins of sock yarn for a Monster Hat kit with Jacey. I like the colors in the hand spun and I like the felted monster too. But I decided that the monster would look best on his own white or cream colored hat. So the hand spun became its own hat. I still need to make a hat for the monster but the handspun hat is done. The hat was finished and washed last night. It was still a bit wet when I took the photo but I can tell you that the hat will be nice and warm.

I also decided to make a pair of the Maine Hand Warmers from Clara Parks book The Knitters Book of Yarn. I bought the book last week at Borders because they didn’t have the book that I really wanted. And after going through the book, I think I got a better book than the one I wanted. I decided to use a skein of Manos that has been sitting in a basket for quite awhile. It was leftover from another project. I managed to finish one mitt last night except for the thumb and I am hoping to get the mate done tonight. It looks like there will be plenty of yarn leftover too. If you are looking for a book to have on your Christmas book, I would recommend this book. Well written and really nice projects.

I also received in the mail yesterday my order from Webs. This yarn will become my sweater!!!! As soon as I finish reknititng the second sleeve on the one that will be going to my mom, I can start mine. I need to try and spend some time in my quilt studio this weekend so I can sew up another sweater that is finished except for the seaming. I also need to finish sewing some Christmas presents and ornaments that I am making.

And the weather forecast for this weekend has the possibility of the wonderful mix of wintery weather that we see here in the mid-Atlantic. And that means snow, rain, icy, sleet or any combination of the above. So that means staying in for me. I have a birthday party scheduled at the station for Saturday afternoon but I am wondering if maybe it will snow so I can get out of it…..

  1. Only a knitter could post an entire paragraph about washing socks and only another knitter could possibly find that interesting. 🙂

It looks like you choose yarn like I do. I have a lot of yarn in similar colors and love them all. So what if other people don’t.

That wintry mix is nasty, but would be a good excuse to stay in, especially if you really don’t want to go somewhere.

Gee, i wonder what colors you like? LOL! 😉

  4. We didn’t precipitation until about 4:00 this afternoon and then it was rain. The NWS forecast says there’s a chance of snow on Wednesday. Yippee! I love the new sock yarn; such a nice color!
