Canning Time Has Started

Yes, I really did pickle asparagus. How does it taste? I have no clue. I am letting it cure first. And my taste tester is in Ohio but I have not told him he is the taste tester yet either. I have 3 jars that are very lovely with the tips and three jars of sut up stems. I have a partial jar that was not processed in the canner and is curing in the refrigerator. That needs a few more days before I can taste test it.

And spring has been acting weird here in the mid-Atlantic. Last week it was near 100 almost every day and today it is a balmy 81 but the night time temperature dropped to a lovely 58. Now wonder I feel like I am getting sick!!!

And there is a new to me lovely blog called Handjobs (For the Home) that has quite a few ideas for flavor combinations and kitchen ideas. And right now there is a give away for a jar of his Strawberry-Lemon Preserves. Now I can’t eat it since I am allergic to strawberries. But it would be lovely to have a jar of this sitting on the counter in the deep dark of a mid winter’s morning!
